As Barcelona continue to navigate the challenges around the Nico Williams pursuit, trying to convince the forward to join the Catalan camp this summer, the club are actively open to other alternatives in the market as well.
Dani Olmo is seen as Barcelona’s other priority target in attack, with the club keen on acquiring the services of the RB Leipzig forward.
Barcelona unwilling to meet Olmo’s price tag
A recent report from COPE has offered an update on Barcelona’s pursuit of Dani Olmo, who is priced at around €60 million.
Barcelona, though, are not too keen on meeting Olmo’s €60 million. The club believe they should invest less than the stipulated amount.
This comes after Barcelona’s first proposal for Olmo was vehemently rejected by Leipzig. The club are reportedly preparing a second offer for the Spaniard.

But everything suggests Leipzig have no desire to lower their valuation for the Spanish international, who was one of the top performers in Euro 2024.
Barcelona’s unwillingness to meet Olmo’s price tags raises doubts over their chances of signing the former La Masia graduate, especially at a time when Leipzig are growing desperate to sell the player.
It was reported earlier that Leipzig are keen on offloading Olmo as soon as possible, in order to secure the funding for a replacement.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona’s new economic lever worth €40 million can help the team’s pursuit of Olmo, though the majority of the funds are going to be used to meet Nico’s price tag.
However, should Nico decide to continue at Athletic Club, one can expect Barcelona to double down their pursuit of Olmo and perhaps even meet the Spaniard’s valuation.
But with Manchester City also involved in the race, time could be of the essence in Barcelona’s pursuit of Dani Olmo this summer.
