In a weekend weather update, Hurricane Oscar formed off the coast of the Bahamas, prompting a hurricane warning for the Turks and Caicos Islands and southeastern Bahamas, as well as a watch for parts of Cuba, including Guantanamo, Holguin, and Las Tunas provinces.
Oscar, considered a small storm by the National Hurricane Centre, has winds reaching up to 80 mph, with its epicenter located 165 miles east-southeast of the southeastern Bahamas. Its reach also extends as far as 470 miles east of Camaguey, Cuba.
Simultaneously, Tropical Storm Nadine emerged off the coast of Mexico, affecting areas in Belize and the Yucatan peninsula with 50 mph winds and heavy rains. Its presence places Belize City and Cancun, Mexico under a tropical storm warning as Nadine proceeds inland.
