DNA leads Las Vegas police to convicted felon accused of attempting to kill marijuana purchaser with damaged bottle

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — DNA from a small cigar led Metro police to arrest a person for allegedly robbing one other man and trying to kill him with a damaged bottle, paperwork stated.

Manuel Lewis III, 35, faces expenses together with tried homicide and kidnapping, data stated.

In February, Metro law enforcement officials responded to a name for an individual who stated he was robbed, paperwork stated. The 54-year-old man, who was bleeding, stated he met one other man, later recognized as Lewis, on Fremont Road.

Lewis drove the person to an alley, the place the sufferer anticipated to purchase marijuana, police stated.

“Once they were in the alley, the victim began to feel uncomfortable,” police wrote in paperwork. “The suspect then began to attack him, punching him multiple times, demanding his wallet, and stating that he was going to kill the victim.”

Lewis then allegedly broke a beer bottle over the sufferer’s head, stabbing him with it, police stated.

A witness informed police he noticed Lewis maintain the sufferer all the way down to the bottom, saying, “Give it up” and “I’ll kill you,” paperwork stated.

Lewis then took the sufferer’s telephone and $3,000 from his checking account, in accordance with police.

On the stabbing scene, police positioned an unlit cigarillo with a mouthpiece. Crime scene analysts swabbed the mouthpiece for DNA and entered it into the nationwide DNA crime database.
