Headline: Ex-Met Officer Sentenced for Exploitative Behavior Toward Vulnerable Teen

A constable from the Metropolitan Police who made inappropriate advances towards a 16-year-old girl he encountered while on duty has been sentenced to six months in prison.

Che Homersham, 37, initially met the girl during a domestic incident in December 2018. He later took her to a nature reserve while off duty, claiming he needed to gather a statement. During this encounter, he attempted to kiss her, but she declined.

The two met again, and he drove her to a parking lot where, after several tries, he succeeded in kissing her and touching her thigh and waist, as detailed in Southwark Crown Court.

A few days later, Homersham, who subsequently left the police force, sent her a text stating his intention to pick her up from school for sexual relations.

Residing in Southgate, north London, Homersham had offered to assist the girl with her aspirations of becoming a police officer.

He was apprehended in December 2023, resigned the following month, and ultimately pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office.

A misconduct hearing determined that he would have been dismissed had he not resigned beforehand.

Ch Supt Sara Leach condemned Homersham’s behavior as “entirely unprofessional,” asserting that his actions have significantly eroded public trust.
