Russian chess player **Roman Shogdjeiev** is set to become the youngest international master in chess history. He achieved this milestone by winning the RADNICKICHESS tournament in Belgrade, Serbia, where he scored seven points out of nine rounds. This victory allowed him to fulfill the final requirement for the international master title.

As a result, Shogdjeiev is now recognized as the youngest international master ever, accomplishing this feat at just 10 years, 3 months, and 21 days old. The previous record was held by the Argentinian Fausto Oro, who achieved the title at the age of 10 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

It’s important to note that the title of international master is a step below that of grandmaster. Roman Shogdjeiev is also the 2023 world champion in the under-eight age category.
