The 24-time Grand Slam champion, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, shared his thoughts on claiming his 100th ATP title last week in Geneva, Switzerland.

“I needed these victories, especially on this surface. Competing on clay in the early tournaments doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m the type of player who requires more match play before events like this one. That’s why I decided to go to Geneva. Ruud didn’t participate – he had dominated there for the past three years – so I’m grateful to him for letting me seize this opportunity. Right now, I feel completely different than I did two weeks ago. When you lose a couple of matches, self-doubt creeps in, and in that mental state, it’s hard to look forward to the French Open,” Djokovic remarked during the press conference.

Norwegian player Kasper Ruud has won the Geneva clay tournament three times (2021, 2022, 2024). Prior to the start of the tournament in Switzerland, the Norwegian opted out of competing.
