A passenger aircraft traveling from Heathrow to Detroit was forced to head back to the London airport due to a damaged windscreen.
Delta Air Lines flight 017 had 188 passengers along with 12 crew members on board when the pilot reported the issue shortly after takeoff at 11:44 BST on Saturday morning.
Following standard procedures, the crew made the decision to return to London Heathrow, where the plane successfully landed shortly thereafter, as confirmed by the airline.
Some travelers were rebooked on later flights for the day, while those unable to secure a flight until the following day were provided with meals and hotel accommodations, as stated by Delta Air Lines.
The aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, is currently undergoing evaluation and maintenance, according to the airline’s report.
Heathrow Airport confirmed that no other flights were affected by this incident.
