A rail operator announced that the initial deployment of 36 new trains on a commuter line is set to significantly enhance the experience for passengers.

London Northwestern Railway revealed that the first of its new Class 730/2 fleet will commence operations on Monday along the West Coast Mainline, with stops at Northampton, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, and Watford stations, leading to Euston Station in London.

These trains are part of a broader £1 billion investment in the line, according to the company.

Managing Director Ian McConnell highlighted that the introduction of these new trains will provide an additional 15,000 seats daily and boost overall capacity by 20%.

He emphasized the reliability of the new trains, stating, “These trains are set to create a substantial impact. With an extra 15,000 seats each day and a 20% increase in capacity, they offer a significantly improved journey experience.”

McConnell noted that passengers can expect a more contemporary, comfortable, and state-of-the-art travel experience, with increased space and a higher likelihood of securing a seat for a more pleasant journey overall.

Phil Warner, chair of the Bedford to Bletchley Rail Users Association, expressed his enthusiasm for the enhanced capacity. “Trains have been shorter than ideal and often overcrowded. More seats and space mean reduced standing and less crowding.”
