Russian drone attacks overnight targeted the northeastern city of Kharkiv in Ukraine, resulting in injuries to 14 individuals, including four children, according to Ukrainian officials on Thursday.
This recent assault occurred just a day after Russian strikes took the lives of three people and left approximately 60 others wounded in Kharkiv, located around 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the border with Russia.
“The enemy launched an attack on Kharkiv during the night,” the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported. “A total of fourteen individuals, comprising four children, sustained injuries.”
Oleh Synehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, specified that the injured children include a 2-year-old boy and girls aged 12, 16, and 17.
Ihor Terekhov, the mayor of the city, noted that the drone strikes occurred between 1:37 AM and 3:08 AM, causing fires in residential areas and schools. He mentioned that debris landed “right next to playgrounds.”
In recent days, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine amid unsuccessful U.S.-led attempts to revitalize peace negotiations.
