Steiner: McLaren May Soon Embrace Team Tactics as Driver Rivalry Intensifies

The former head of Haas, Günther Steiner, shared his thoughts on the incident involving McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

“It was a serious mistake, and Lando himself acknowledged it. You can’t afford to make such errors if you’re aiming for the championship. I don’t believe Norris will claim the title this year. While I have a high regard for Lando as a driver, the issue is that he tends to lose his composure in such situations. I think at some point, the team will start to implement team orders. They may not publicly admit it, but we could see it happen.

The team needs to keep an eye on their competitors. Yes, they still maintain a solid advantage in the Constructors’ Championship, but Red Bull also led early on last year while McLaren was closing the gap. So, they should definitely be cautious.

McLaren was fortunate that Norris didn’t take Piastri out with his maneuver. If that had happened, it would have been game over. I’m not sure how Piastri managed to avoid a puncture during that incident,” Steiner commented, as reported by RacingNews365.
