Williams driver **[Alexander Albon](https://www.crash.net/tags/28173-aleksander-albon/)** has voiced his dissatisfaction with the current rules governing racing on track.
“I’m not a fan of how we race in F1 nowadays. A prime example is the first corner in Barcelona. If another driver pushes you off and then releases the brake, leaving no space for you, that corner essentially belongs to him. Clearly, the only option left is to lift off the throttle, go off the track, and cut the corner.
I faced a similar issue in Canada. If I had tried to push my opponent who had already let off the brake, he would crash into me and receive a penalty. Meanwhile, I would have been on the edge of the track at the moment of impact. So if I yield — even knowing it’s pointless and that he plans to hit me — I end up benefiting. This means that, due to the rules, our sport is becoming more contact-oriented.
It seems like I’m just giving way to another car to prevent a collision, but in Barcelona, I was penalized for that. And in Canada, I obviously just lost my position.
We recognize all the challenges involved. I don’t want to claim that we know better than anyone else; we’re simply trying to cooperate with the FIA to bring clarity and see if any changes can be made.
