A survivor of the 7/7 bombings in London shared that the attacks radically altered his outlook on existence.

Bruce Lait, a dancer hailing from Ipswich, was commuting to London for a rehearsal and found himself on the Tube between Liverpool Street and Aldgate when an explosion occurred in his carriage.

This tragic event was part of a coordinated series of attacks on London’s transit network on July 7, 2005, which resulted in the deaths of 52 individuals and left over 700 others injured.

“It causes you to appreciate life more and motivates you to strive for excellence in everything you pursue,” he reflected.

While Mr. Lait mentioned that he had moved forward, he planned to take the time during the 20th anniversary to honor the memory of those who lost their lives.

At the time of the blast, he was on the Circle Line with his dance partner, Crystal Yelland. After sitting down to read a newspaper, he recalled, “In an instant, I was knocked unconscious and lost all sense of my surroundings.”

“When I regained consciousness, I was confronted by a devastating sight; it was dark and filled with smoke, with lights visible at either end from adjacent carriages,” he described.

“There were lifeless bodies to my left and another person sprawled across me.”

“It was a horrific scene to witness, but I am grateful that my dance partner and I survived. I truly appreciate that.”

He sustained burns to his face, injuries from shattered glass, and suffered ruptured…
