LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The North Las Vegas Police Division is inviting anybody who lives or works in the neighborhood to a behind-the-scenes have a look at how the division operates throughout an upcoming Residents Academy.
The ten-week academy shall be held on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the North Central Space Command police station, situated at 1090 West Deer Springs Method, beginning on Aug. 27.
“The public’s perception of police officers is often shaped by what they see portrayed in television shows or the news, but the reality of law enforcement’s role in the community is vastly different,” Chief of Police Jacqueline Gravatt stated. “The NLVPD Citizens Academy gives participants an informative and candid look at the inner workings of their police department and a chance to engage directly with police officers. It’s also great exposure for women and men considering a career in law enforcement.”
Every week, individuals could have demonstrations from completely different NLVPD divisions, together with SWAT, K9, Narcotics, Visitors, Crime Scene Investigations, Communications (Dispatch), and Patrol.
