A 56-year-old Swiss national, **Urs Lehmann**, has been appointed as the new CEO of the International Ski Federation (FIS). He served on the FIS Council from 2021 to 2024.

“In fostering our highly effective collaboration, we have decided to join forces to lead FIS into the future,” Lehmann stated, as reported by the FIS press office.

“Strengthening our leadership role with Urs is a crucial step towards creating the best opportunities to address the key challenges we will face in the coming years,” said FIS President Johan Eliasch.

Urs Lehmann was a professional alpine ski racer. He won the world championship in downhill skiing in 1993 and retired from his athletic career in 1997. In 2008, he took the helm of the Swiss Ski Federation, a position he held for 17 years.
