The CEO of “Akhmat,” **Akhmed Aydamirov**, shared his views on the potential tightening of the foreign player limit in the Russian Premier League. This initiative was previously brought up by Russia’s Minister of Sports, Mikhail Degtyarev.

“I have already expressed my opinion: anything artificial is not beneficial. It’s a misconception that reducing the number of foreign players will result in a larger pool of high-quality Russian footballers. Only through competition can we grow and achieve success,” Aydamirov’s words were quoted by Match TV.

In the 2025/2026 season, the Russian Premier League has a rule that prohibits having more than eight foreign players on the field at the same time. The maximum number allowed in the squad is 13. Players from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan are exempt from this rule, as well as foreigners eligible to play for the Russian national team.
