LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — When Luke Parkhurst first moved to Houston, Texas a couple of years in the past, he was excited for the long run. He acquired a job in gross sales and acquired a house, however the change of surroundings did not come with out struggles.

“I’m someone who likes to be on horses, fishing, camping and be outdoors. Houston, there’s really no public lands. It was draining my mental health,” Parkhurst recalled. “I went down there sober. I was super fit when I got down there, maybe 175. By the end of it, I was 220. It took a toll, I was drinking a lot again. For me, I have to be grounded and humbled by nature. You can’t put a price on mentally, physical or spiritual health. It doesn’t matter how much I was financially making, so I called my mom.”

With no plan in place and in his early 30s, he moved again house in Las Vegas along with his mother, Patty, welcoming him with open arms. She stated she did not assume twice about his choice.  

“I had been to Taiwan and saw there were no homeless population hardly there, and I thought if any of my kids need a reset in life. I pushed them really hard when they were younger to probably spread their wings earlier than they needed to,” Patty Parkhurst stated. “I would go with the flow. He’s my child, my youngest. Like I said, I launched my children too early in life, and it was an opportunity for some healing.”
