Firefighters came to the aid of a six-year-old dachshund that found itself trapped in a fox den in a park in East London.
On Sunday, Tosca became lodged in a tunnel approximately 3 feet (1 meter) beneath the surface, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB).
Emergency crews were dispatched to Victoria Park around 3:00 PM GMT, and after two hours of effort, they successfully extricated the dog from its unfortunate situation.
Using specialized tools, including a snake-eye camera, the firefighters were able to pinpoint the lost pet’s location.
Station commander Paul Jarrett remarked, “Tosca ventured off on an adventure in Hackney and ended up in a fox hole.
“Thanks to meticulous digging, our firefighters were able to rescue Tosca and bring them back safely to their owners.”
A spokesperson for the LFB noted that pet owners are generally advised to first contact the RSPCA if their animals encounter problems, while the brigade stands ready to help if specialized equipment is needed, as seen in this instance.
