One of the most significant industrial estates in West London is poised for demolition to make way for data centres.
The Southall Industrial Estate, located on Trident Way, will be transformed to include four data centre facilities along with a central pavilion and office spaces.
This redevelopment project is projected to generate more than 1,120 permanent jobs, in addition to creating 460 construction jobs annually during the building phase, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The developer, GTR London, has pledged £300,000 to support off-site flood risk management efforts, alongside a £20 million planning gain agreement.
This agreement allocates £6 million specifically for Ealing Council’s strategy aimed at training and upskilling in the data centre industry.
The proposal encompasses four industrial structures, which consist of a logistics and distribution centre, a central pavilion, two power-generating substations, along with smaller workshops and office spaces.
The pavilion is designed to function as a hub for offices and support amenities, serving as a prominent feature at the entrance of the revamped industrial estate.
On 22 October, Ealing Council granted approval for the project.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, multiple data centres are currently under construction throughout the capital, including three data centres on the site of the existing Hayes Bridge Retail Park, which received approval from Hillingdon Council…
