David Carrick, a former Metropolitan Police officer and serial rapist, has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl as well as a former partner.

The 50-year-old, who is currently serving a life sentence, was found guilty of abusing the young girl in the late 1990s and raping the woman during a relationship over two decades later.

At the Old Bailey, jurors determined he was guilty of nine charges and he is expected to receive his sentence on Thursday.

Carrick, hailing from Stevenage, is already facing a minimum sentence of 32 years after admitting to 71 sexual violence offenses spanning 17 years.

In court, Carrick was dressed in a suit and tie, flanked by four prison officers. He shook his head repeatedly as the jury announced their decisions.

After five hours of deliberation, the jury reached a unanimous verdict on the charges against him.

Shilpa Shah, the lawyer leading both prosecutions by the Crown Prosecution Service, commented on the recent case, stating, “The compelling testimonies from these women clearly illustrated the relentless abuse they suffered without consent. One victim was a child at the time of her indecent assault, while another faced sexual abuse from him during his time as a senior police officer.”

She emphasized the necessity of prosecuting him again due to the severity of his crimes and the public interest, particularly given his position within the police while committing some of the offenses, as well as to highlight the…
