A man labeled by the Metropolitan Police as “one of the most prolific and depraved sexual predators in recent memory” has received an 18-year prison sentence.

Barthimaus Ehiemere, 25, from Hackney in east London, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court for committing sexual abuse against seven boys on 47 separate occasions.

The police probe uncovered that he had conducted extensive online grooming and perpetrated severe sexual offenses against boys aged 12 to 16, including seven counts of rape involving two boys from 2019 to 2023.

The court was informed that Ehiemere had a “commercial interest in the sexual exploitation of young teenage boys” and utilized Snapchat to groom his victims. The Metropolitan Police has urged any additional victims to come forward.

According to the Met, Ehiemere would entice boys with “gifts, financial incentives, and compliments to manipulate them into sharing sexual images,” which he then exploited to entice other boys to do the same.

Furthermore, Ehiemere “boasted about his activities” and distributed the illegal material to other sexual predators, the police noted.

He also employed the now-defunct app Spotafriend to connect with children.

Detectives discovered over 1,600 indecent images of minors on four electronic devices confiscated from Ehiemere.

He will be obligated to register as a sex offender for life.
