The automaker AvtoVAZ is initiating a recall for over 33,000 Lada Granta vehicles due to a potential issue with the driveshaft, as reported by the company’s press service to state media on Wednesday.
This recall affects cars sold from June 6 to December 12, 2025, as stated in a recall announcement by Russia’s consumer standards agency, Rosstandart, which includes the vehicle identification numbers in a notice.
“The problem pertains to a driveshaft part within one of the Lada Granta assemblies, where there exists a minor risk of a loose connection,” the automaker’s press service conveyed to the TASS news agency.
“While the likelihood of this occurring during normal driving conditions is low, AvtoVAZ has opted to conduct a recall to completely eliminate this risk,” the company further explained.
AvtoVAZ indicated that the possible defect is associated with a component supplier, and they have already implemented modifications to their manufacturing process to rectify the concern.
Currently, there are no immediate reports of injuries or accidents linked to this defect.
The business publication Kommersant noted that the driveshaft issue could lead to loose or stiff steering, and in the worst-case scenario, it might even cause the steering system to become locked.
The Granta, which is a four-door sedan, is regarded as AvtoVAZ’s best-selling vehicle, with 134,200 units sold from January to November, as provided by the company’s figures.
