Las Vegas – A fluffy 2-year-old goldendoodle, abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport, secured a forever home with one of the police officers who responded to the distressing call.[1][2]

On February 2, 2026, just after 11:30 a.m., a 26-year-old woman approached the JetBlue ticket counter at the airport.[2] She sought to board a flight with her mini goldendoodle but faced denial due to incomplete documentation required for traveling with the dog as a service animal.[3]

Instead of resolving the issue, the woman tied the dog’s leash to a metal baggage sizer and walked toward her departure gate. Surveillance footage captured the moment she left the confused pup behind.[3] Officers later learned she claimed the animal had a tracking device, suggesting it would find its way back to her.

Swift Police Intervention

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived promptly after reports of the stranded dog surfaced. They located the woman at her gate and escorted her back through security.[2] She grew hostile during the process and resisted detention efforts.

Authorities arrested her on misdemeanor charges including animal abandonment, resisting a public officer, providing false statements, and animal abuse.
