Las Vegas – A 2-year-old goldendoodle left tied to a baggage sizer at Harry Reid International Airport found an unexpected happy ending with the police officer who responded to the distress call.[1][2]

On February 2, 2026, around 11:39 p.m., a traveler approached the JetBlue ticket counter in Terminal 3 with her goldendoodle in tow.[1] She intended to board a flight but learned additional paperwork was required to fly with the dog as a service animal. Denied a boarding pass, the woman tied the confused pup to a nearby carry-on baggage sizer and proceeded alone to Gate D1.[3]

Airport staff soon noticed the abandoned dog and alerted authorities. Surveillance footage captured the moment, showing the leash secured and the owner walking away without looking back.[4] The incident sparked immediate concern among travelers and employees alike.

Officers Track Down the Owner

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived promptly and gathered details from airline personnel. They located the woman at her gate, where she defended her actions by claiming the airline barred the dog from the flight and insisting a tracking device on the pet would guide it home.[1]
