Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko commented on the recent reports regarding the mother of 14-year-old figure skater Elena Kostiyleva — Irina, who is allegedly abusing her daughter. Previously, clips showing the woman hitting the girl in the stomach were shared by Plushenko’s wife, renowned producer Yana Rudkovskaya.

“Yana certainly held on for a long time. Once again, we (our entire team), along with the police, child protection services, and juvenile inspection, have been trying for over a year to reason with the mother in the best interest of Lena. However, after the latest incident of violence on November 24, we were all at our wits’ end! Honestly, I’ve never encountered a stronger girl. After every humiliation and beating, she would step onto the ice and work hard. Meanwhile, she kept giving her mother chances to correct her behavior! And we did our part! Unfortunately, it didn’t help,” Plushenko stated on his personal social media page.

Earlier, Evgeni Plushenko revealed on his Telegram channel that he filed a complaint with Maria Lvova-Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of Russia, regarding the abusive treatment that Kostiyleva is inflicting on her 14-year-old daughter. Elena Kostiyleva’s mother has been evicted from Evgeni’s academy, “Angels of Plushenko.” He also outlined the various violations of conduct committed by his student’s mother on a regular basis.
