Las Vegas – Local high school teams delivered offensive explosions across baseball and softball fields Monday, marking a strong start to the spring season.[1][2]

Offensive fireworks lit up baseball diamonds as several squads invoked the mercy rule early. Bonanza crushed Sunrise Mountain 21-0, exploding for 17 runs in the first inning alone. Roberto Rosas-Vivar paced the Bengals with a 2-for-2 effort that included a triple and two RBIs.
Durango routed Boulder City 13-2 in five innings behind Aiden Farrell’s standout day; the junior went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and earned the win on the mound. Foothill mercy-ruled SLAM! Nevada 16-1 after three frames, powered by Steve Alvarado’s 2-for-2 line featuring a home run, a triple and three RBIs.
Thrillers also emerged. Desert Pines edged Cadence 15-14 in six innings, with Marty Bradley going 3-for-3 including a triple and two RBIs for the Jaguars, who rallied for two runs in their final at-bat. Cheyenne topped Doral Academy 11-5 as Taven Thaker contributed two hits and two RBIs. Palo Verde held off Coronado 8-4 in a matchup at Bishop Gorman High School.[2]
